Looking for a boat!

Hello, we are looking for a 38’ to 46’ live aboard. Our budget is around $65000 but of course cheaper the better. We plan on traveling all throughout the Caribbean and ICW’s. Blue water capabilities are a must and would prefer a sloop or cutter rig. Any advice would be great!

We bought a Catalina 27 2 years ago and learned the basics of sailing on the Tennessee river. Since then we have only had time to go look at other vessels around the area. We plan on buying a boat to live on and go to sailing school with. We recently got an in water inspection done on a 1981 Morgan 462. The inspection went well for the most part but the diver said there are 50 to 60 blisters and the sails seem to be in horrible shape. Also all the equipment is a little dated.

As a novice sailor, would you prefer a heavy displacement vessel?
