Here's an idea. I think her name is Miss Loveyoulongtime. Won't eat/drink much or complain when you do. There might be a place for her on the $500 thread. Pardon my British: many would consider this an essential piece of "kit".

There are men and women the world over who are living by themselves, for one reason or another. Is it not better for them to sail beyond the horizon and enjoy the adventure of a lifetime, reather than live a life ashore?

I learned early in my cruising experience to not be judgemental of the people I met. For they in turn would be judgemental of me.

With no offense meant to anyone here, I have to say that in my experience, women on sailboats are kind of like women on Harleys. Not the most scenic of creatures. Yes, there are a few exceptions, but for the most part, female sailors are not lookers, and virtually none of them are single. If I were in the Caribbean on a sailboat and looking to score with women, I would park my boat somewhere very near where the cruise ships disembarked their passengers. Those people are in town for a short time, and are looking to party and have as much fun as possible in a short amount of time. I would frequent nearby beaches and bars, and I would let it be known that I was a cruising sailor looking for company to share a good time with.

Re: In the VI's, how lucky do I have to be to get lucky?

I've gone solo in both the Bahamas and VIs. My experience (in those locations) is that bumping into and starting something with women (even just friendship) in that context is extremely difficult. I have much better luck having woman join me by using online crew finder forums. Going from having someone new ever present 24/7 to being completely on my own again can be challenging at times, but that's the nature of cruising.

LOL, yeah, probably so. It's just one man's opinion, and a picky one at that. Like I said, no offense meant.

You'd be amazed how the prospects improve once the 'Harley' is taken outa the equation.... women are looking for excitement...
A 'Harley's' about as exciting as a 'Zimmer Frame'....

I think it's also about gettin' good vibes

Obviously given the Harley sales figures clearly not exclusively a woman thing.

Hey folks, the definition of a bigot is a narrow-minded intolerant person.

So, having standards with regard to beauty makes one narrow minded and intolerant?
