Re: If You Could See Every Satellite

Everyone does realize the laughable irony that we, Cruisers’s Forum users, are all over the world at present plugged in and commenting on the very system we hold so dear...ESPECIALLY when in search of those more deserted places.

It’s a bummer, but I’m guilty of spurning the growth as are all of you.

It’s not capitalists, it’s not communist...it’s you and I.

Let’s at least slow down our purchases...

Astronomers push for debate on satellites

Astronomers are working to see whether the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space might take up the topic of satellite ‘megaconstellations’ at its next meeting, which begins on 25 August.

They say the goal is not to pit astronomers, who are worried about how satellites will interfere with their observations of the sky, against satellite companies, but to develop a vision of how to fairly use the shared realm of outer space.

Aerospace companies have launched about 2,000 Internet satellites into orbit around Earth over the past 2 years, with tens of thousands more expected.

Working with the United Nations, scientists hope to establish standards for satellite ‘megaconstellations’ and reduce disruption of astronomical observations.
