Re: If I won the lottery, what boat to buy?

I would probably keep my little boat. But I would up my cruising budget above the $500 dollar amount it now has. BUT with a lot more Spa days!!! Gee Maybe a dinghy with an outboard... and an electric windlass too... Ooooh the decadence..

Though I don't play the lottery, I rather am waiting the the million in cash to appear magically on my table. The odds are about the same as playing the lottery and I save a dollar.

You guys kind of missed the 2nd stateroom on that Morris 48. Look at the port quarter.

Dream fleet -
1. a 30 foot strip planked Tancook schooner that fits into a 40 foot container. This is my wooden boat festival entry card for Duarnenez, Tasmania, Port Townsend (WA), Newport (RI), and the biannual gathering at Semaine de Morbihan. Nat Benjamin design.
2. an aluminum ocean voyager around 40 ft LWL - free standing rig, deep keel, family go-anywhere cruiser for 5 or 6. Bob Perry design.
3. a Mini-Transat for one/two hand racing. Proto, of course - full carbon and epoxy. Paul Bieker design.
What fun!!

That is a curiously designed boat, and the pictures don't do justice to the true uniqueness...

Apparently it is 30m long, but over 600m wide, all while only displacing 98kg. Amazing!

Interestingly I looked at Yachtworld and found a couple that would interest me. Not too big, but capable of doing an 'expedition.' A couple are pretty affordable.

Maybe a "cabin," but certainly not a "stateroom." But, yeah, there's a berth tucked away back there.

I play the lottery the same way but I have to say I dream bigger. Couldn't you see taking a whole lot of friends somewhere nice? It would have to a big win though:

Mainsail, I don't have a winning lottery ticket for you, but here's a wooden boat with Brooklin Boat Yard in the background....

Re: If I won the lottery, what boat to buy?

I have been changing my mind lately on what kind of material to have a boat made of with the floatsome from Japan headed to the USA's west coast. I would want a catamaran that if it hit a shipping container it would hole the container and not scrach the catamaran, any ideas what material to use on a custom catamaran.
