Re: Ice Age on the Way!

I was watching a very interesting documentary show this afternoon on how the Inuit women collect mussels from under the pack ice when the tide goes out. This might be a useful skill in a few years time.

It will turn around, during the switch over there will twice the amount available.

On the serious side this Ice Age thing is a big concern. It could result in me having to break a 25 month trend of not having to wear long pants!

Global warming means also colder winters and the increase of odd and more violent meteorological phenomena:

actually a weak solar output allows the jet stream to wander causing the abnormal weather events .
During a solar maximum the solar winds are much higher and therefore stabilize the terrestrial jet streams. Has nothing to do with global temperatures .
Which by the way have been coming down for the last several years.

You are wrong about that. The data is from NASA:

"Seventeen of the 18 warmest years in the 136-year record all have occurred since 2001, with the exception of 1998"

The obvious fact is, the Arctic / Greenland sea ice and permafrost are melting, and at an accelerating rate.
So, based on the fruitcake nature of someone affiliated with the website making the reference, NASA measurements of what is happening in the thermosphere become invalid? That's how science works, you reckon?

It's only "very relevant" if your point of view is such that you deem people with opposing views as worthy of labels such as "fascist," "nazi" or "neo-nationalist" as the author of your linked article does. If that's the case then, yeah, what's there to debate? To me it just looks like another excuse for not being willing to subject one's own views to be challenged. In other words, intolerance.

There seems to be a lack of understanding these days that the value of debate is rarely winning over the other side, but rather to gain a better understanding of where the other side is coming from. Often the same goals are in common, but people have very different ideas on how to achieve them. An unwillingness to debate civilly -- coupled with demonization & stereotyping of people who's opinions you disagree with -- only increases polarization. Not good for any society, and potentially dangerous .

Standard practice around here Delfin. Attack the publication or author of a secondary article rather than the scientific data or opinion that supports it. Sometimes it's highly relevant, of course, but requires the ability to distinguish between scientific & lay opinion. In other words, the ability to recognize and then properly discount the pervasive bias (from all sides) which permeates the entire CC issue.

As usual, Curry applies appropriate scientific analysis to another paper seeking to validate the MMGW meme and utterly destroys it. Which explains why she is persona non grata amongst MMGW trough feeders. Interesting to see if the author of the disputed paper responds to Curry's corrections to the published calculations, although I suspect they will continue to be ignored. Which is pretty much SOP for the alarmists.
