Even I've got to admit once one reads his history he seems a 'cool dude' - and it seems his voyage is not as unplanned as if may have first appeared.

I wish him the best of luck. He's not the first to do this kind of thing though.

I read a book on William Willis not long ago. He made several long distance raft voyages across big water. He never got the name recognition of Thor Heyerdahl, but still quite a character. He used to hang himself upside down from his mast so he could tuck his guts back in when his hernia would give him trouble. Yes, pretty hard core. He did end up getting a little too ambitious though and went the accidental burial at sea route. He did have the decency to not trouble any SAR assets though.
