The one redeeming point of this ad and the videos, is that the next time someone bashes sailing as an elitist pastime of the rich, their is now hard evidence that sailing is indeed for people prom all walks of life.

Re: Hilarious Craigslist Sailboat Ad
My guess, 18-20 knots of wind in the channel between LA and Catalina, hardly any whitecaps showing, flat seas.... (and this is a storm!). That's when it is fun to sail in S. California!

Couple things here...
So his boat is in chaos. He can;
1. Sheet out the main and fix that reef.
2. Drop the jib before it beats it's self to death.
3. Head up, drop everything and....
OR...
4. Grab a camera and start shooting video with a voice track.
His decision to choose #4 is an interesting one.
Also,
Note the shore power cord wrapped several times around the stantion (conviently missing it's upper life line).

Oops missed this one... Thank you!!!!
Wasn't poor Ronny Simpson from around there somewhere?

Yes, interesting trim technique indeed. Gotta love the reefing. Letting the Jib fly like that, means you don't need to trim it when you go on the other tack. I've not seen that tried before.
Perhaps he should write a book?

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

obviously , you have not been in storms in so cal, despite the fact you have an altadena city label.....
try sailing in a winter storm in lost angels--you will not see so cal storms in same way you do now.....you surely remember the storms that took out mary davis's portofino inn in redondo beach?? how about the big winds and seas we get every winter --- seas get much bigger on pacific than 20 ft in 50+ kts winds, and more than 50 ft in stormy conditions. enjoy!!!
the san pedro channel, between catalina and san pedro, is treacherous in storms, as is the santa barbara channel.

Re: Hilarious Craigslist Sailboat Ad
I've done a fair amount of boat shopping (and selling) on Craigslist. You meet a LOT of these guys. It's really pretty fun. There are all kinds out there on the water.
I also teach English at a community college. The spelling and grammar are typical of the general population under the age of 25. Will written communication eventually become unintelligible? Dude! i mean ****, man. yanowhati'msayin? it' like...
