Has anyone seen unexplainable phenomena while at sea?

Cruisers are in a unique position to see UFOs and such - nothing to ashamed about - read Columbus' journal! Care to share any experiences?

Ya! Just last week, "Mork" from Nano-Nano and I had a cold bear at Lewis'es bar, Down & Under in LA.

Really though, No boater would even try to tell people that they had a close encounter of any-kind, unless it's with a Mermaid!!!! LOL

I have seen many "unexplained" events, but I don't believe they were "unexplainable". In two cases in particular I was totally unable to explain what I was seeing - until it turned out to be the moon.

Re: Has anyone seen unexplainable phenomena while at sea?

The number of reported UFOs has dropped remarkably since the advent of the Internet.
One would have thought with digital cameras and video that if they were about they would have been exposed, no matter what conspiracy theory Americans have (actually the CIA is too busy planning to shoot the President).

No I have not seen anything unexplainable, let alone UFOs.

No shipping containers floating about either.

Re: Has anyone seen unexplainable phenomena while at sea?

I have seen many things that I didn't even want to try and explain, but most of them were just the behavior of other boaters. I also have seen too many of the type of aliens you mention Tropicalescape. I am considering Keel-hauling a few of them. Is that illegal?

if you wear your hat, those things wont be seen. they are really just government waves getting into your head to control your toughts. I sir am a free thinker. I only go about 2 hours a day without protection. This keeps my levels of gov. waves below the danger level. for a small fee, i can make one for you. just let me know.

I've seen plenty of UFOs when sailing. But they were French, which is why they are really called OVNIs. I wouldn't mind owning one myself.

Just got buzzed by a teaser. Rich little alien dude who lands next to a solitary unsuspecting person and jumps up and down with little antenna on their head going 'beep beep'. Childish really...

Moments like this make me feel the need to suck on the side of my towel with the antidepressants on it...

Re: Has anyone seen unexplainable phenomena while at sea?

Great thread, you guys are a hoot.

Yes, Ive seen some odd things. Once in the Gulf of Mexico I saw very large glowing objects in the water. They were perfectly round, not man made light. It was at night. The first one I spotted we sailed within a few feet of it, it was very big, as big as the boat and stationary. I thought it was a sleeping whale with a phosphorescence glow, but the thing was too round. They next couple were further away, smaller and deeper. I've seen other strange stuff But that was the weirdest, most unexplainable...giant jellyfish?

The coolest thing I saw was the silhouette of the Space Shuttle. It was a beautiful black night on the Atlantic. The stars were so bright. Very hard to describe but the space shuttle would cross in front of a star, and the classic space shuttle shape came into view. So dang cool.

Cheers from the planet Hoth,
Erika

I saw a Moon Bow last summer, but I could explain that.

Everything else unexplainable was contained in the mirror.
