Re: Green Hydrogen from Wind Farms

E-fuel only makes sense if it is made from CO2 that is captured from the air. When the e-fuel is burned that captured CO2 ends up back in the air but you've flow a jet plane to London without releasing any new CO2.

See page 38 of the report

https://www.irena.org/publications/2...gy-perspective

Can we do this economically today? No. But it's safe bet that we won't be using Jet A-1 in planes in 50 years. Right now, hyrdogen looks like the best way to keep planes flying. Someone's going to make a lot of money figuring it out.

Re: Green Hydrogen from Wind Farms

Hydrogen was used in the Hindenburg. That worked well....

Recent huge hydrogen explosion/fire in Norway explained:

Re: Green Hydrogen from Wind Farms

It is a very cheap gas, the problem though has always been storage.

Green Hydrogen from Wind Farms

Hydrogen will become a key carrier of power in the future, I say carrier because it is in effect similar to a battery, it will take power to create and is a way to carry and transport that power.
You could run an airplane or ship off of hydrogen, but not with any close to be existing battery, and when your talking the scale of grid power storage you see how silly a battery is.

Although I’d hate to see hydrogen used to run an internal combustion engine to generate electrical power to charge an electric car it can do so very well, but it’s very inefficient to do that, likely better to fuel the car with a fuel cell.
The concept of there is only one right way forward is very short sighted and simplistic and complex problems are never solved with simple answers.
That is why I think hydrogen will play a part, I suspect a large part.
