Dorade - Periscope

Just laying in my cabin thinking about this.

Has anyone done this? Seems pretty easy.

Not that there would be any reason to, but I've seen stupider things done.

Re: Dorade - Periscope

Sounds interesting. The other day I had an idea about a periscope on my forward hatch. The upper part would sit on the half-inch lexan, maybe held in place with suction cups, and the lower unit fastened to the frame. I don't have dorades yet, but I think they could work.

On our boat, the dorades would be practically impossible to make into a periscope. Never mind the insect screen at the cabin, there is no straight line path for mirrors to use. It would take four or five mirrors or prisms to work your way around the baffles in the dorades. Of course, the baffles keep green water and wind-driven rain out of the cabin.

Just out of curiosity, don't you have these baffles on your boat?

Cheers!

Steve
