While carrying an AK47 might help you get past Somalia, with 6 people on a 21' boat I wouldn't want anybody "packing".

Well, I have done a fair bit of that trip, and with an all girl crew in a 29 footer, but there is only one small thing that keeps me from wanting to join up. Asmara is in the mountains, and while a lovely city, it is at the end of a very windy road down to the sea. The trailer ride down would just be too much for my nerves.

Good luck though and be sure and throw coins out the window at the roadside shrines. It seems to work some of the time.
