Charter: Joining a charter group

Does anyone know of, or had success with, charter companies putting together strangers for charters. My wife and I would like to charter but for only two people the costs are a little high. We'd like to share expenses. Also, it'd be nice to meet other people. There must be someone that does this.

Or perhaps there's an alternative. We could crew but then we don't have as much control over time and location.

I've called a couple of companies without success.

Thanks.

Yes, many companies like Dream Yachts (large charter co) run them to fill space in off season etc. The upside is that its less expensive. The down side is your boat mates are the luck of the draw.

Yes. That's the obvious unknown. I imagine most experiences are positive since most people are considerate, but there's no guarantee. I'm specifically concerned about smoking. But maybe they have non-smoking charters. I'll ask.

Re: Charter: Joining a charter group

I would put a post on CF that indicated where and when you wanted to charter, even it was very broad, and ask for a PM if a cabin was available. Then I would communicate privately with the opportunity to try to make sure you were compatible.

I don’t know that there are folks who have availability, I’m just guessing that there might be some.

Thank you for that suggestion . It's a good one and I'll try it.
