The generous man that bought him the boat has done this idiot nothing but to start the insanity all over again.
I am curious how he came by a Hunter 42. There's no way this guy works a steady job.

Re: Captain of Hurricane-Beached Boat Demands Cash for New One
I talked to a couple of people from the marina he was at, or rather anchored near. There is a lot missing from the news, and it is not good. The guy is a real problem. There should be an CF pool for when he sinks the free boat (I am guessing he will not bother to register or title her).

Re: Captain of Hurricane-Beached Boat Demands Cash for New One
I can't believe that in the land of litigation a guy like this can even manage to keep a boat. I didn't know that there were marinas in the US that wold allow a boat to tie up without insurance.
I want Sept 20th, 2012 for the pool.

What's the real scoop? I am so sick of hearing that it was all just bad luck, not his fault, "just tried to beat the storm", etc etc. What is the real story behind why he left that marina and sailed right into the teeth of the storm? Did he even understand that that would void his insurance? Or was he just too drunk to comprehend his own actions?
What has he been doing for the past few months?
Also, the new boat is on the hard, eight? Is he allowed to live aboard there, especially on the hard? And without insurance, will the marina even agree to put it in the water for him? How much would that cost? MC just posted on facebook that he is "heading south first of the year" ...

Re: Captain of Hurricane-Beached Boat Demands Cash for New One
I'll be surprised if he's not in jail soon. It looked like the classic situation of a boat with no insurance washed up on a city beach. The city asked him to remove it at his expense, which I somehow doubt he could afford or wanted to do himself. Then the boat mysteriously caught fire in the middle of the night and burned up. Sounds pretty suspicious to me and the newspaper article said the police are investigating. I doubt this guy will be going anywhere, but you never know....

Well that's 3 month old news. He's been in jail three times now.
Highly doubt MC torched his own boat - his grief and rage over its destruction sure were sincere, and he isn't any kind of actor. My guess is local teens did it as a prank after hearing adults bitching about the situation.

Re: Captain of Hurricane-Beached Boat Demands Cash for New One
There has to be a book in fools at sea. Nominees include this gent, Ned Ackerman who lost the beautiful John F. Leavitt, and George McKay, the Maine guy who built and finally lost the three-masted galleon Raw Faith. The book would have to be limited to major leaguers like these fellows, else too many of us would get famous.

They're shooting the remake of Dead Calm aboard my cutter.
Seriously, though, jerks like this make it worse for everybody. Just like parasites like Octomom, anyone named "Kardashian" and most bankers make me root for Ebola.
