Really? My whole life I have never heard of anyone getting sick from eating Maine lobster. Getting sick "of" Maine lobster, yes. Getting sick "from" Maine lobster, no. Oh, but wait! You are the "son in law". Ahhh, that explains everything. The in-laws give the unspoiled lobster meat to the blood relatives.

Mexican lobster? No thanks. Plus, with no claws you are only getting 1/2 the meal.

Be careful of chicken tacos in Baja. The meat sometimes has "fur". True story!

This is where you can definitively determine the intelligence of the individual.
I will loose respect immediately.
You usually can tell beforehand those who would ask and those who wouldn't ask that question.
Of course this excludes close friendships.
I also benefit from loose respect, because tight respect often presented problems.

By the way, how much did you pay for your boat?

Isn't the answer always - "too much"?

For most boats, yes! For Hinckleys and Little Harbors, the price can never be too much.

Two East European "nouveau riche" types are sunning themselves on the beach in St. Tropez. One pulls out a bottle of Louis XIII cognac and pours two snifters. The other one inquires: "How much did you pay for that bottle?" "Oh, only 1,500 euros at this beach shack". The other one exclaims: "Ah, you have been cheated! It's 3,000 euros at the casino shop".

Two Port Clyde lobstermen are sunning themselves on the rocky beach on Monhegan Island when one asks "How much did you pay for your boat?" The other one replies "Ask me that again and I'll give you a smack in the head! By the way, did you get those pink bib wader overalls from L.L. Bean? They are hot. How much did those babies set you back?"

I scan channels 9, 13, 14, 16, and 22A routinely. The most informative is 14 which is for USCG traffic control in the SF bay/estuary. Keeps me informed about ship, barge, and ferry traffic.

It is their livelihood ($$$$$), so please guess about whether they will care about your peace ethics when they catch you f#%king with their traps.

In their mind, it's their water. You are graciously being allowed to sail in it. Don't believe me? That's fine. Dream away, life is short.
I would never intentionally just screw with their traps. No need to, but if a lobsterman screwed with me or made my safe navigation difficult so be it.

Busting many a fisherman in court was always pretty easy....one more wouldn't bring a tear to my eye.

Pot floats are an issue all up and down the coast in channels...a pet peeve of mine and in line with the thread. Giving me an excuse to take it to federal court would be a bucket list item for me.

My pet peeve is people who try to solder wires on a boat. You're supposed to crimp them.

When someone fiddles with something I've fiddled with hundreds of times and they break it!

I can't help it, I just don't trust butt crimps! Though I do crimp all end terminals. Besides, after burning through half the thickness of the hull with iron and heat gun, I've still got half left!

The best answer is " If you have to ask you can't afford it".
