A couple of years ago, I was tied to the seawall in Horta. Supposedly a few packages of coke had washed up on the beach in Pico. Cops suspected a big, ratty Russian boat tied up behind us. They cordoned off that section of the seawall and took that boat apart, including sending divers down for over an hour.

As far as I know, they didn't find anything. The Russians were all cocky as hell. I assume they'd already successfully made the drop...

That said, I've always found customs and immigration are really relaxed in the Azores.
