Betcha Next 'Boat for Sale' Missing Price / Pics
I guess we all have our pet peeves.
Mine is someone, usually someone who hasn't posted here before (but not always), post that their sailboat is for sale, they may even describe in in glowing terms, and then never mention the price or post pictures.
The ones I really get a kick out of are the ones who say they have lots of pics, and your looking at a screen that has only words on it
Do, any takers on the bet?

I might be new around here, but I'd have to say that generally speaking you're right on the money with that one. I certainly won't bet against you.

I like the ones with two pictures of the galley or the salon (and not that good of one) and one of the engine ... that's it! Oh, maybe one of a winch.

Re: Betcha next boat for sale missing price or pics?
What drove me nuts in my boat search was brokers using a cellphone to photograph a half a million dollar boat as if that would be good enough, and people that had 100 close ups, one of every hatch and drawer and porthole and cleat but not a single wide view.
Yeah, no price? Are you kidding me? I really want to talk forever to some psycho before they'll tell me the price? No, I don't.

As long as we're peeving how about the 6 figure boat with no specs at all other than berths and heads. And while I'm at it I'm peeved also at the ones that say it has everything like radar, watermaker, etc but doesn't give the brand or model or lists the engine and genset but doesn't give the hours. There's this one luxury yacht broker that doesn't give you anything on his website, you have to call. 6 million dollar boat (I can dream) and the guy can't spare the bandwidth. Are you freakin kidding me? Or how about the guys that list the cats as single engine or bother to say that it's a deck stepped mast. Well duh. OK I'm done venting. Where's my Prosac? BOB

But they are usually glad to list how many boat hooks come with the boat!

Re: Betcha next boat for sale missing price or pics?
I like the ones that fail to give any clue as to the location of the boat...
"great boat... best ever"....
No price... is bad, but how about not knowing where it is...
San Diego, Norfolk, Mozambique?

BOB take a chill pill,,,we all know that the next sailboat you buy you will take off the mast, put in a larger engine, add hydrofoils and wings then go waterskiing behind it after getting large fuel tanks and a sky sail,,,so what does it matter what info the add has in it to you,,,,
in trouble with you now

I don't mind those kind of ad's at all. What I DO MIND is the same people winging about 'how hard it is to sell a boat'.

Re: Betcha next boat for sale missing price or pics?
I've been looking hard to buy something 38 to 51 feet for about 6 months now, and I'm amazed at all the sellers or brokers will actually post a slew of pics of the interior of the boat, and it looks like a bomb went off - dirty dishes in the sink, stuff laying all over the tables, heads dirty or in disrepair and generally just a mess. A broker sent me a bunch of pics of one boat and my girlfriends comment was "Well, it'll only take two weeks and a giant dumpster on the dock to get it ready for a good cleaning".
Also, if they don't post price or location, I skip over it pretty quickly. Too bad, 'cause I'm a cash buyer.

Re: Betcha next boat for sale missing price or pics?
What some sellers do not realize is :how does this look to a prospect buyer" It might take an extra day or 2 to put things in order and clean the boat but it is well worth it,,,,a photo says a thousands words,,,that is very true in the selling aspect,,,if a seller can take the time to post decent photos of his boat he most likely did not take the time for maintenance issues
