Barack Obama

I would just like to congratulate all our US friends on the forum on this auspicious day. Barack Obama sworn in as the first black president. Congratulations.

From the Sydney Morning Herald:
Quote:
In his first official act since taking the oath of office, Obama issued a proclamation decreeing his inauguration day to be a "National Day of Renewal and Reconciliation''
Is that like a public holiday? No work but Beer, BBQ and a bit of dancing?

Sounds like someone Australians would like

Thank You DeepFrz. We have a lot of work ahead of us, and with the support of our good friends in Canada, Australia, Europe, and around the globe, we will all have better days ahead. Not only did we elect our first black president, but the right one to lead in a time such as this. IMHO

Cheers to better times ahead!

Today is a great day, not only for the US, but also for the rest of the World. Change is coming, but it will take time to rectify two wars and a World economy in the drain. I'm just happy to see that steps are being taken in the right direction.

Absolutely; much more than the first black president. Finally the right president. Cheers!

He'll be just like any other politician! You won't be able to trust him with your money or property.

Those who WANT to lead are full of greed!

I am as excited about this president as any that I can recall. He is charismatic, but he also has a solid background at both the grassroots and intellectual levels. And we are in deep kimchee economically--we are in need of a new vision. The time for a new direction is past, and we've made a choice. I believe and hope that it is the right one.

Ask yourself why there are only two political parties in the US. Solely to create polarity, side A blames B, democrates blame the republicans, conservatives blame the liberals, and vice versa. divide and conquer. Meanwhile the the one puppet master controls all the strings The media is portraying this guy like the messiah. He is more of the same, the power structure (ie, military industrial complex, aipac, central banks) would not allow change. Real change will come when the majority of the population realize they are being fooled and start to practice civil disobedience. Common people, time to wake up and think critically!

Two political parties or not, I watched the inaguration (sp?) and I can tell you this: I can not imagine any Canadian politician who could stir the hope and pride that Obama has. For probably the first time in my 65 years I am envious of the US.

As long as it remains friendly, and cordial, I don't see why they would kill the thread. It's nice to read what other cruising nations have to say about this historic event.

I truly hope i'm wrong, and he is change, the wars stop, the human rights are returned and so on. But words are just words, actions will tell.

Here's to hope, peace and human compassion!
