Anyone else have a ton of tabs open with boats?

Ah, boat buying.

So much fun! .... well more like a full time job, lol!

Youtube videos on sailing and boat repair constantly on the big screen ó hours and hours a day.

Meanwhile banging away at the laptop. Just closed a bunch of tabs with boats (adding them to a bookmark folder with probably a hundred links) and I still have like ten tabs open with boats on them.

Anyone else out there in the same boat? (da dum pshhhh)

Or fun remembrances?

Re: Anyone else have a ton of tabs open with boats?

Remembrances? You'll find that many of us continue to look at boat porn, even after buying.

What worked best for me was to start a folder for each boat make and model, then a sub-folder for each model year. I'd put links to the ad, plus photos I downloaded from the ad, in that folder. I'd also do a "print to PDF" of the page, so I didn't have to go back to the web site if I just wanted to compare something.

Some folders only had one boat for sale, some had several. But having all the pictures of the same model and year together really helped.

Note that YachtWorld used to (probably still does) try to block you from downloading photos. But of course if you can see them in your browser, you can save them. There are plug-ins to disable the right-click blocking, or you can look at the source code to find the names of the files, and open them separately.

Good luck on your search!

barnakiel lol

CapTom ROFLOL Boat Porn. I'll have to remember that one!

Subfolders for each model hmmm, that's a good idea. I'm pretty set on buying a Tartan 34c thanks to all the advice from others in this forum, but damn I can't stop looking!

Just wish this lockdown would end so we could actually go walk the plank(s)....

(booo, hiisss) bad puns, don't know why buying a boat is bringing out a million in me...

Daily ebay, craigslist, sailboatlistings, yatchworld, etc etc...

Been there done that. Thatís how Iíve bought boats. I think I looked at Pacific Seacraft boats for a couple of years until I pounced on mine.

Then I had two boats moored. For a while. That was fun......

My son, our in-house IT guy, keeps pulling his hair out when he sees me with so many tabs open. "It's slowing down your computer!!!", he cries. I respond: "It's boat porn and it's only a celeron processor, couldn't be any slower anyway," I reply. He walks away mumbling...daily.

It's just so easy switching tabs instead of loading each one.

Re: Anyone else have a ton of tabs open with boats?

Yeah, multiple tabs can hog a lot of memory. But it swaps out when you're not using it. If it's not slowing down anything else you're trying to do, I guess it's not a big deal.

That's how I read forums like this one. I start at the oldest post I haven't seen yet, paging back toward page one. If I see something I want to read, I open it in a new tab. Then go through the tabs, closing as I go.

What I wouldn't do is keep a lot of them going for a long time. Inevitably something would eventually crash and I'd lose my place. Anything I want to come back to later can be saved as a bookmark, or a shortcut in the appropriate folder. I'm finding the shortcuts are easier to find later, if I put them with all the other files related to the same topic. But you can also organize bookmarks, if you prefer those.

Tighten your search parameters.

If we put ours into any of the sites we come up with usually no more than 5 candidates, often 2 or less.

"Bangka" is what my wife calls it - and the boat builder. Maybe in different areas of the Philippines they have different names for them There are so many dialects in the Philippines I wouldn't be surprised.

Used to row my boat about a mile and dive the coral reefs for exercise almost every day when I was in the Philippines. Here's a home video https://youtu.be/5ZBNq6Ew0bE

Simi_60 thank you for advice. I've already decided to buy a Tartan 34C. I just keep looking at all the boats. That's why I closed all those other tabs lol. Now if this lockdown would end I'd start going and looking at them!

Cool hpeer. I've just got the one in the Philippines right now Wife upset we haven't bought our sailboat already she wants to get back on the ocean!

CaptTom I just click on the links when they come to my email for this forum. It nicely sends one when someone replies to my thread.
