Not really Rob, but there's the old song -

I knew a girl from Wanganui
She looks hot in her bikini
I chased her till she sort of “knew me”
In the biblical sense, if you get my meaning.

The memory is but a distant one
For from that short encounter
nine months later I had a son
Oh my God not Robittybob!

I sailed twice to New Zealand. Once to Whangarei and once to the bay of Islands. I was in Kiwi Land long enough to take the nationality, and I still regret that I did not do it when I had the opportunity.

Bay of Islands would be a boater's paradise. What is the attraction of NZ as compared to the States?

Where is this forum based, in which country? The time on the posts indicate it isn't on my side of the globe.

The grass is truly greener in New Zealand.

Good sailing.
Secure borders.
Not much in the way of gun and drug related violence - at least not during the two years that I was there.
Healthcare for all citizens.
Good education for those interested in working hard.
Personal freedom.
Less invasion of privacy - When I was there they could not put pictures on driver's licenses because of privacy concerns.
A free market economy.
New Zealanders are some of the most friendly and helpful people on planet earth.

I could go on.
New Zealand is an awesome country with rock solid people.

I think it would still be much the same today. We have our moments but we seem to recover from them.
We do have our photos on our drivers licences now. Still very friendly, and we are on show this year with the Rugby World Cup.
