Re: A sailing story thread - feel free to add

but the wind calmed down and we headed out onto a comfortable board reach. The next morning we saw the sun raise and smled as the rays lit up our next stop. As we motored in to drop our anchor we could already see local fisherman coming to welcome us.

While we had only planned to stay a few days, it was so nice here that one morning we realized it had 40 days and with mixed emotions we pulled up the anchor and headed out.

Re: A sailing story thread - feel free to add

After one day on the water in his trustworthy catamaran, having found himself unable to sail to weather, and nauseaus from the wallowing of the two hulled beast as it continued to sail sideways, he returned to shore, tied up the boat, and hitched a ride to the local Kentucy Fried. While belching on his third breast of extra crispy, a local sailor approached him and said, "Obewan, say Bennies belong only close to sea, and cats should never leave land." A good solid Lyle Hess design is a sailors delight. Given the inspiration, our intreped sailor wannabe listed his cat with a local broker and began scanning thousands of boat listings looking for something affordable that would not likely sink in a seaway. He continues his pursuit to this day, looking, hoping watching . . .

until the day he'd realized that he'd spent most of his money in a week long, gluttonous binge at the chicken place and decided to go ahead and buy that tough little Westsail 28 after all...

but a snail's pace was not for him. He would grow old before another landfall and the islands beckoned so he returned to port after sailing all day, luckily only being four miles out. Traded up to a shiny B393 and.......

Re: A sailing story thread - feel free to add

because of this he found he was never taken serious on internet forums anymore and sailed off in search of the production boat world of safe comfort.

Along the way he decided that the pirates were not that much a danger after all and headed for the Red Sea. One day as he sailed along he came across the water he came across a skip with 6 ragged looking guys in it. Coming closer, but not too close, the men told him a story about an evil Russia ship that attacked their mother ship and suck them after setting them adfrift in the open. They have already had to eat 6 other their members and asked to be allowed to come aboard.

Being a good natured person he .............

Re: A sailing story thread - feel free to add

It was a dark and stormy night when Captain Beneteau realized that his cheap Chinese anchor was dragging down on a nest of Pirates on their stolen multi hull. He had two options; claw off the lee shore which he could easily do in his Bene or reach into his extensive stash of firearms and fight it out.

....not being much for confrontation, he dove overboard, swam for two days in the treacherous waters until he reached shore where he caught a flight back home and bought the Westsail 28 at a substantial markup...

Re: A sailing story thread - feel free to add

......Then, suddenly, after colliding with a sunken container, the hull cracked open like an egg and began to sink. Realizing the situation hopeless, they abandoned the boat and set out in their Solas life raft. After battling 30 ft sea and 50knt winds for six terrible days, they were rescued buy Geoduck aboard the "Eastwind" who was in route to Thialand to buy a load of cheap teak to fix up his 70 year old ketch - just in case it might need it someday.......

....He decided that one hull was too small and 2 still wasn't enough so he bought a trimaran and went around the world twice as fast. After that he still decided he didn't have enough hulls so he was looking for that very rare quad hull.
