Re: Youtube liveaboard stars?

Definitely agree with that. Just hit 39 and and been working over a year straight 2 jobs to fund my own escape. Even moved into my van so I have almost no bills now.I expect or hope anyways to get 3-5 years outta it and it will only be probably around the Keys or Caribbean area, not the whole world. I never thought a bad thing of all these kids doin this stuff I look forward to all the episodes I watch....Just makes me wish I did it sooner !

And while Delos may have half nude people in their crew, I've never seen them stop the camera and perversely state they were doing so just to look at the girls in bikinis... as Sailing Doodles did in one of his most recent episodes - I don't even think he had the action of scraping in the shot, choosing to instead focus on their rears.

Both of these were just *MY* lines in the sand.... yours may be drawn elsewhere.

Cool. I have laughed at shameless advertising, and it does have a breaking point. I saw the Sailing Doodles episode you mentioned and it was over the top with the girls butts, as far as breaking the barriers of good taste. Judie was laughing and as we looked at other videos on YouTube later, asked why a particular episode had 200,000 hits while the one next to it had 10,000. I asked her if she didn't notice the first one showed the girl basically bursting out of her bikini? End of story. So, sell the videos by generating hits with women who are wearing little or no clothing-nothing new about that!

Might be an EU thing, but I don't understand why you would watch a vid just for some girls in a bikini. I mean there is enough free porn out there.
I know sex sells, but come on...

DITTO: I agree!
Me, too. After my first long cruise (at 52) I realized I should have found a way to do it much earlier. And, like miost people, I could have. It just wasn't a priority in my life. I wish it had been.

Hey pal, how do you know? Are you his dad? And by the way, why do you feel they need to defend their "con" of idiot cash?

Some people have a quirky old fashioned hang up of then they see others spreading rumors (if not out-n-out lies) about other people they feel the need to correct said rumors with a little dose of Truth.

See in today's world, their are haters of anyone successful or anyone that made their dream come true. Why, oh there are many reasons, but in that basket of deplorables are those that simply don't want to believe that their dreams are possible. So when they see others living out their dreams....it shatters the excuses.

The worst lie, is the one we tell ourselves of why we can't do something.

Have you considered how long it takes to actually create the video's? it's a fulltime job.

to be honest, what I've read in this thread are a lot of grumpy old sailors that might be jealous that these young people are doing what you couldn't do at their age.

If you watch those videos you will notice that all of them share one thing; their love of sailing, love being on the sea and their love for adventure. How is that different from other sailors/cruisers?
No offense, but PLEASE give your money to people who upload home movies! Obviously I cannot teach you anything. Better yet, send ALL your money to ME. I'm currently making a video, and the editing takes a long time. Thanks a bunch! !

Before responding, please read the post and please don't pull it out of context . What is the difference between writing articles or books or creating videos?

What's the big difference between writing books and uploading 15-minute home movies? Do I have to answer that question? I hope not! haha

Re: Youtube liveaboard stars?

This is going in the wrong direction as of late. I think avid you tube uploaders receive a small amount based on the number of viewings? This allows youtube/google to sell more advertising.

As for me, I don't have a problem with someone uploading bikinis. Easy enough to change the program. Some of use often prefer a little clothing to porn at times. I have to be in the right mood for porn and that is more rare than being in the mood for bikinis.

I have wondered how a liveaboard youtuber would fair if their partner really "filled out" their bikini. Many would hate, others would not. Most of us would still search for the higher quality videos that deal with sailing I'll bet. Bikini strewn videos never have a big box office. They were relegated to the bargain bin of the video store.....99 cent rental material. I suspect they have pretty well quit making them.

I think there would be a market for a fearless adventurer that did stuff like Cape Horn, Roaring 40's etc. I love watching stormy boating while staying dry.
