You can set any color. Will make great red cockpit lighting for night, white to see in the cockpit at anchor or marina and a variety of colors to help find the boat in crowded anchorages.
Do you have a link for the led strips?
Thanks!

Re: Your favourite small purchase

When I bought a Luci light, I was hoping to leave it on constantly so I could get a few hours of light in the early evening before the battery ran down.. Not only did that not work, I now can't get the battery meter past a low reading. Not that they said it would work.

My method of making coffee. You can steep the grounds, and easier cleanup than a French Press, IMHO:

My fave flashlight, it’s waterproof, glows in the dark, is very bright, and fits my female hand nicely:

I bought a $40.00 atv winch remote control from Harbor Freight, converted to the anchor winch, works like a champ! I single hand, it make's dropping and pulling much easier and safer if the winds up.

That's a great one. I just ordered some shadecloth. (We've hung towels on occasion).

Along those same lines -- I bought some cheap insect screening to hang from the bimini. We don't use it often, but once in a while in light air we encounter a swarm of biting flies that drives us crazy, and this has been a salvation.

The cheapest way to buy the fabric was to get "garage door screen" from Amazon, and that also had the advantage of coming with some finished edges (so we didn't need to sew them all). We marked cut it to size, and added some 1" black cloth edging tape where needed. We sewed some plastic coated curtain weights onto the bottom every 2 feet. Total project cost was a few hours of labor and less than $50 in materials. We put it up with clothes pins (and pairs of strong "rare earth" refrigerator magnet dots).

Re: Your favourite small purchase

Anchor rode markers (just bought them again today because I had to re-mark my rode after redoing my rope-chain splice to swap the ends of my rode, to even out the wear). https://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-...72?recordNum=1

Suitcase dish rack. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/galle...-rack--4850087 We've been using these for years. Contains the water while the dishes dry and easy to stow when not needed. (It's a bit fragile and we've broken it, but I always bought the same thing -- nothing better IMHO).

Re: Your favourite small purchase

+ bright waterproof rechargeable headlamp for every person aboard plus one

+ folding hikers' solar panel with usb charger for shore excursions/ditch bag/electrical backup

+cellphones == 1000s of hours of entertainment + navigation + reference library + 14mp camera+ flashlight) both ours have at least a6 128gb microsd card.

+ Garmin Inreach

+ Upgrading to standard propane tanks which can be swapped at any gas station in the US. Way more capacity, and still easy to transport via dinghy.

+ Painting the 30 yo faded interior gelcoat (Still in progress and not a priority, but good grief what a difference.)

+ Hammock hooks for hanging pots and pans low profile (I hate 'eyecatcher' hooks--you know, the ones you'll impale on in a seaway.) and elastic straps to hold them in place without rattling.

+ Acetic acid to mix my iwn vinegar.

+ Pool shock bleach crystals to mix own bleach.

+ 20qt granite ware pressure canner and Tattler reusable canning lids.

+ Good day packs to properly enjoy shore excursions.

+ HDPE 2000ml rectangular prism labware storage bottles by Nalgene for storing chemicals, coffee, anything I want safely and impermeably stored.

+ Swapping and moving to midline the small double basin sink for a giant, just as deep, single basin and simplifying the plumbing--better, more useful, sink and three times the accessible, low, and more midline, storage volume. (Aka how I found room for the 20qt pressure canner and more).

+ Upgrading the dim cool light LED retrofit bulbs to brighter, warm light LED retrofit bulbs. Indistinguishableb from incandescent, 30x less energy. Kakuanua is the brand name, I think--Amazon.

You also want what is called full duplex, like a telephone....
The type of Bluetooth SENA uses has about a 1000 yard range and it is full duplex. My wife and I had those on our motorcycle helmets so we could talk while riding. Mind you, she was on her on her own motorcycle, not the back of mine.

Back on topic: LuminAid (https://luminaid.com) makes several LED light units which are charged by built-in solar cells, or through USB. Waterproof, some versions with different color lights, and variable intensity. We hang one in the cockpit at night while relaxing, then inside with us. With the choice of where to hang it and the intensity, it is more versatile than the fixed interior lights.
