pirate You Might Be a Liveaboard - if . . .

I thought we could all use a little fun, so here goes:

You might be a liveaboard if...

...You frequently feel like you play Jenga in your refridgerator.

...You've ever accidently put your kid's life jacket on in a McDonald's parking lot (3 miles from shore) because "its habit".

...You think CSI is some sort of local yacht club or racing acronym.

...You can identify your neighbor's boats by the sound of their halyard slapping against thier mast (why can't they just secure the damn things???)

...You make friends with the local ducks/geese.

...You make friends with the local lunatic (also a liveaboard).

...You walk in the rain all the way from your car (parked in the far lot since you had to work late) to your boat, carrying your backpack from work, a load of laundry, and some groceries that are destined to fall out of their bag at any second (but most likely while heading down the ramp at an extreme low tide)- all while thinking how lucky you are to be living the dream!

Feel free to post more!

Frank

Ha, thats a good one...the ducks at our marina know my voice and always come swimming up when they hear it.

You might be a Liveaboard if..... you think smaller is often times better.

You might be a Liveaboard if.. the trunk of your car serves as your 2nd closet.

You might be a Liveaboard is....you gave up high heels for flipflops

That is so funny, I literally spent an hour last night with our ducks. They are kind of sweet and kind of creepy.

You might be a liveaboard if you find yourself bleeding from random places at random times of the day.

You might be a liveaboard if coming home feels like therapy.

You might be a liveaboard if you and your girlfriend define "taking a little space" as about six feet.

You might be a liveaboard if you avoid telling people you are a liveaboard just so you don't have to explain to them how you shower, again.

Great thread idea, Frank!

You might be a liveaboard if your answer to the question, "What do you do all day?", is "I don't know, but it takes all day to do it!"

You might be a liveaboard if a 15 minute "fix-it" job always takes and hour and a half, since you have to pull everything out of all the storage lockers to find the right part, then put it all back.

Your kid yells at his friend not to waste water when he's at THEIR house.

Your kid understands that he can't have a pet reptile because they draw too many amps.

you know you're a liveaboard when...

...you wear out barbecue grills faster than running rigging
...you spend more time checking the amp meter than the knot log
...you get the news that Michael Jackson died over the morning net
...you truly don't want anything for Chistmas that won't install on a Kindle
...you define a good anchorage as one where you can get wifi
...your wallet contains more boat cards than business cards
...you consider the filling of 5 water tanks a full day's work
...the wife asks for a piece of scratch paper and you hand her 80 grit
...the only thing you do religiously on Sundays is motor to the pumpout facility
...you define an easy chore as one where you only had to pull out 3 tool bags
...you covet new solar panels more than new sails
...the first thing you do after setting the hook is check to see who you know in the anchorage
...you think that public flogging should be restored for absentee sailboat owners who allow their halyards to slat.

you're a liveaboard when...

...cutting the grass means diving over the side.
...you wonder why it's always low tide when taking stuff on or off the boat.
...buying and giving boat stuff for Christmas is always the norm.
...you covet your neighbor's oven.

You know your a liveaboard if...

... your idea of entertainment is a tide change.
... you begin to notice that every trip involved with transporting anything to and from the shore always seems to coincide with extreme low tides!
... you come back from the store and you can't find a dock cart!
...you tell your friends that you liveaboard because you don't have to mow kelp.
... you find a sea otter lounging in your cockpit when you come home from
work...(or evidence of one)
... you realize you really live inside a transformer toy and you can't just go
sailing for the afternoon because the disassembly/assembly/and re-assembly process is just too much work.
... you do go sailing for the afternoon and you notice that when you back out the power cable is still hooked to the dock (I've never done that of course )
...that your seagulls all have names
...you lay in bed when the wind is up and debate for an hour whether to cut your neighbors halyards

You are a liveaboard if you spend your mornings planning your day only to find when the plans are finalized it's cocktail hour.

You know you're a cruiser when:
- You’ve given up commanding “ready about - Lee Ho”; for screaming “timber - duck!”.
- You have more anchors than teeth.
- You realize that the sun’s always over the yard-arm somewhere, and that's good enough for you.
- You understand (& accept embrace) the concept of "one day - one job".

- "You wash your ziplock bags and hang them out to dry." - Rick (Vasco)

You might be a liveaboard if:
- you have more cable connections (power, telephone, cable TV/internet), than anchors.
