Richard - we'll still have to do some work along the way. But I'd just be a year older if we waited. Getting really excited to move on.

Congrats. With all the posts by folks in hot pursuit, looks like anchorages are going to get crowded with a lot of baby boomers pulling the plug. I'll admit a tinge of envy, as I'm currently caring for my dad so I can't set any dates. Have fun for me and share your adventures here, so I and others can live your dreams too.

Do be sure that neither of you cut the mooring lines before the set up of the new boat is fully sorted. Dropping 30k on that exercise is dead easy and 50 is quite believable.

Sure it could get better. You could have $2400/month.

All kidding, congratulations. Hoping I'm not too far behind you. Have the boat, everything is paid off, just need to put in a could more years in the rat race and I'll be out there looking for you.

Great boat by the way. I learned to sail on the little sister, an OI36. Not the best boat upwind but fast enough on a reach, very comfortable, very roomy and the shoal draft will get you into places other 41' boats can't touch.

Re: WOO HOO! Offer Accepted

I had the good fortune of spending a 1/2 a day with the owner (now PO!) without the broker present. We went through everything and then I took him to lunch where we got to know each other a bit. It was his and his bride of 40+ years to liveaboard all winter and sail the Bahamas, then go north to their hometone in the Great Lakes and liveaboard their motor vessel. 18 months into their dream she contracted a virulent strain of brain cancer and died. He has been half heartedly trying to continue but doesn't want to do it without her. When we went back to the boat after lunch we again went thru a bunch of systems and looked under alot of things before I went back to the hotel. I feel that we bonded pretty well s I shared my story of personal loss (my daughter) and we parted with my comment that I would likely be making an offer. To "Savoirs" comment, It looks like the PO put alot of that $30-$50k into the boat. All new electronics in the past 5 years, new watermaker, new starter, rebuilt windlass, and the list goes on. He has obviously (from a cosmetic perspective) taken amazing care of her. We are prepared to put some $$ in upfront, but again, we'll see what the surveyor says. I'll keep you all posted and THANK YOU so much for all the good feelings and kind words.

We always stop in Portland as we cruise Maine and we often take a mooring for a few days at Portland Yacht Services,-...with some time in the area at Jewell Island, Great Chebeague, etc. before headin up to Penobscott Bay and Mt. Desert.
