Winter Liveaboards in Eastern Ontario
Hi, I'm reaching out to my winter liveaboard compatriots in eastern Ontario. The only marina that does winter liveaboard anywhere near my work is Belleville and the owner is getting on in years and may not be doing it for much longer. I'm looking for a backup plan just in case. Does anyone know of marinas that allow winter liveaboards in the area? I've heard Kingston is not allowing any new boats due to an unattended ( uninsured) boat sinking. I work in a federal prison so I can transfer if anyone knows of any marinas out east(an hour drive of less from a penitentiary) the next closest one I know of is Pickering Ontario and that's a long drive from work. Thanks for your help.

Re: Winter Liveaboards in Eastern Ontario
Hi pyeguy, I may be in looking for a winter liveaboard option in Lake Ontario come next season. We are headed down your way from Superior, and plan to either winter on the boat, or pull her, in Lake Ontario. My limited research has turned up only Bluffers Marina in Scarborough (Toronto).
I've heard Kingston and Belville are no longer accepting new liveaboards, and are trying to get out of the business. I'd be keenly interested in other options.

Yes, I've seen winter liveaboards down on Queen's Quay, which I assume is part of Harbour Front Toronto marinas: Harbourfront Centre - Marine
I've heard that Stillwater Basin in Beleville may allow winter liveaboards, but I've not been able to check into it yet.
Thanks for Do you have the name of the Port Credit marinas? I haven't checked those out yet.

Frenchmans Bay marina in Pickering.
We have 25 boats here winter liveaboard.
Winter water systems, winter pumpout at the dock, cable.
It's well done.

Re: Winter Liveaboards in Eastern Ontario
I took a drive last night to Hamilton Ontario marina area and saw approx. 8-10 liveaboards. It amazed me that it was minus 12 C and we just had a few feet of snow. One of the boats was a 22-24 foot sailboat without any protective tarps or canvas and the cabin light was on indicating that someone was home. I have never lived aboard myself but my hat goes off to those that endure the Ontario winters !!

I keep my Formula 31 at port credit harbour. The place isn't the greatest and they don't have metered electricity. They charge a flat rate

Thanks Fraser. When you say the place isn't the greatest, can you be more specific? Poor service? Expensive? Dumpy yard? Curious...

It's old. The shower/bathrooms need updating. Cost is a little high. But you are a 2 min walk to down town port credit. Grocery store candlers pubs and train.
Give me a call if you want more info
