Winter in Fla

Hello all,


I am going to take a winter off on Maryland and want to move my 60' sailboat to the east side Florida for the winter.

I'm looking for part time work (yacht repairman esp gelcoat repairs) and look for contacts that could steer me in the right direction keeping the boat on the hook or a resident slip for short time lease.

The rule of thumb for FL, the farther south you go the more expensive it is for dock space, marine repairs, etc. Also, in the urban areas like Jacksonville or, Tampa it will be more expensive than nearby rural areas. Then there's a few high dollar towns here and there that are max expensive and some very unfriendly to visiting boaters, especially worthless bums that want to anchor out and clutter there views and waterways.

At the same time, these are the same areas that would offer the most potential work and highest pay.

Otherwise, just about anywhere on the east coast there's boating and slips to rent. Lots of action at Green Cove Springs on the St Johns river and you can rent mooring cheaply. Ft Lauderdale if you look you can find a reasonable slip and there's lots of work there. Farther south look at Boot Key Harbor.
