Very popular Name on Aust East Coast. Do a google search .Thought there was a charter vessel working out of Gladstone for many years.
Are 3 Capricorn Dancers on the Aust Ship register. Capricorn Dancer, C D II, C D 3.

Re: What Does the Name of Your Boat Say About You?
The name of my vessel when I bought it was "Joli` Elle" which means loosely, Pretty Girl. Prior to that, my vessels were name "Faiaoahe", pronounce Fayaway, from Herman Mellville's book, "Typee" Particularly chapter 18. The picture attached below was the craziest name I have ever belly laughed over,

Re: What Does the Name of Your Boat Say About You?
We wanted a 1 word name, nothing with a pun or some other play on words that would make it difficult to write down (like Blew Bye) or immediately understand (as in mayday, mayday, this is Naughti Kat) and we didn't want anything with "wind" or its variants in it since it seems so many do that.
Our last name is Wood and my oldest son came up with "Driftwood". It just seemed to fit.

The name came with the boat.
She is a Great Dane 28, so we for a brief moment thought about rechristening her to Grand Danois but
A - it means bad karma to change a boats name and
B - we looked up the meaning of the name and immediately took a liking for it.
She has for the past 30+ years under our ownership fully lived up to her name, Nepenthe.
An approximate translation of this romanized version of a greek word is "she who drives the gloom away". A name for a mythical drug that is mentioned in Homer's Odyssey. Probably an opiate of some sort. Nobody knows any longer for sure. Pretty addictive ship too, if you pardon the pun.

Re: What Does the Name of Your Boat Say About You?
Our Jeanneau 42DS is called, "Wildflower" because I am a little wild and my wife is most certainly a flower. Our little Boston Whaler is called, "Salty Dog" Because every time we take our Dog out in it she comes back very salty. My first boat, an Ed Monk designed 36 foot Trawler was called "Tin Cup Chalis" after a Jimmy Buffet song. all three names are fitting for the boats that carry them.

Bad karma comes from acting badly instead of making a better choice. In fact it's just that you reap what you sow. Go through life acting like a slimeballs, and you'll end up hanging out with slimeballs, being treated like a slimeball, wondering why you're surrounded by jerks.
The universe does not care if you change the name of your boat. If you give it a name like "Your Boat Sucks" you'll be prone to draw idiots to you, but it isn't karma's fault.

Re: What Does the Name of Your Boat Say About You?
My boat's name is Caio Bella meaning hello/goodbye beautiful, in Italian. It was named by the PO who had planned to take her to his home in the Med. but plans changed before he left Florida.
I kept the name because I had just divorced a very beautiful lady. I was saying "goodbye beautiful" as I began planning my cruising life without her. So the name is appropriate.
Ciao

Would not dare to change the name of a boat.... not superstitious but don't want to upset Poseidon.
Greensleeves, allegedly, the have been King Henry VIII mistress, for whom he wrote the song of the same name, oldest song in the English language. You can't marry a boat, can't be your girlfriend, but she can be your mistress. She is also green in more ways than one.

I don't really understand people who buy a boat and don't make it their own by changing the name!

If I adopted a dog that was already named Spot he would still be my dog whether or not I changed his name.

I love the lettering! It reminds me of the 70's. Now you just need those big fluorescent flowers that were seen all over back them. Nice boat too!
BTW, I lived just over the Michigan border from Toledo growing up- town was Ottawa Lake (but no lake for a boat).

Fat Iguana
I got it from the name of a fictional bar in a Jimmy Buffett novel I read.
I suggested the name to my wife as we were in the process of buying our boat. It just stuck.
I hope, among other things, it says we don't take ourselves too seriously...
