Re: What do you do all day?

It's amazing to me that people spend their whole lives anticipating the time when they can do absolutely *anything* they want to do, all day long, instead of *having* to do what they don't want to do!!! Then, as the time of freedom grows nigh, they are dead-smacked with fear and intrepidation at the prospect that they'll have to figure out what to do with their time. Can't say I've ever had that sort of conundrum to deal with. When time is my own, it is better spent than any other kind of time - lavished onto any day, week, or year! We forget what life's all about, don't we? Were we made to work? To those who say "yes": there's no hope for you.

Can't say I have ever heard a cruiser complain of boredom .
Yep.

I wake up early, bust my ass all day, have some fun too, and go to sleep exhausted.

I retired at age 58. That was 4 years ago. I look back and realize that I was always living for either the next weekend or the next vacation. Now every day feels like Saturday. Funny thing is that it still seems like there aren't enough hours in the day.
I have a few friends that retired, got bored and went back to work.
Those are the kind of people that there is truly no hope for!

Re: What do you do all day?

I think it is wrong to suggest that cruising is easy and frought with Naps and Happy hours. For most of us that is only a small part of the day. A nap... mid day... even for an hour or so... may be the best part of any day. There are plenty of things to do every day of cruising but a mid day nap is perhaps the most rewarding and productive. Ask anyone....

We track our projects that we complete on the boat on a service log and every weekend, we are busy with something, then I come home to cross something off the project list, only to find that I was busy all weekend but it doesn't seem to be anything to cross off my list.
+1 ROFL, that has been our life since September! I do think we are getting the upper hand on the list now though!

I wrote a blog post about your first paragraph.

This happens to me a lot. But I just add it to the list and then cross it right off. Makes you feel almost as good as if it were there all along.

EXACTLY! Much as I once enjoyed work, it reached the stage where life was a countdown to weekends and holidays. Countdowns are a thing of the past now, except on the hard stand .

Every day does feel like Saturday and every night like Friday night and I usually wouldn't have a clue what day of the week it was . Even after six years of doing this I have not become blasé about it.

Once in awhile, I interupt my nap to catch a fish.

Nancie and I are off every 5 months or so driving a rental car or flying off to some other location. We live at such a low cost that the occasional play at travel to some other exotic place is easy and appreciated.
