Why worry? These things are disposable at this price. For five'n'twenny bux and an hour's labour you have a brand new one. When you make the first one, stay ahead of the game by making two, so when the winter wind shreads the first one, you already have the second one to put up. Then make a third one in anticipation of the second one shredding :-)!

Re: Under $25 Boom Tent
I used a tent fly, complete with flexible fiberglass poles. Makes for a less droopy boom tent.

So you notice the big flag ($3 at dollarama, mounted on a mop handle) but no mention of the 3 bikini girls on my boat? Those were the days.

Re: Under $25 Boom Tent
Very cool. I am headed to Lowes. Having spent time in the Army in days of canvas tents, I can tell you that canvas is quite water repellant - as long as you do not touch it from below. Then for some reason it starts to weep through.

Yes - I was just going to mention tent flys.
If you have access to a sewing machine and a decent fabric store, you can often find Sunbrella-like outdoor fabrics, at a great price if you can find roll ends, discontinued stock, etc. Some cutting and hemming, bang in a few grommets, and for maybe $50 you have something that should last longer.

Ah, Hamburking! Girls in bikinis are a dime a dozen on Vancouver's beaches, but a handsome Maple Leaf, well flown, THAT is a sight for sore eyes :-)!

Re: Under $25 Boom Tent
This is quite excellent. I need to do this myself.
But would like to do as one person mentioned, add a couple of rods across, fiberglass maybe, so it doesn't come so low at the sides. More of a Bimini effect?
Any ideas for rods or supports, anyone?
Thanks

3/4 plastic water tubing from hardware store. Cheap. Glue the end caps on to avoid chafe.

I like the idea of being able to see through. are these Landscaping screens? Also it seems to me that it would stand up better to squalls , letting the wind go through
