Re: Um..is this for real?

An update. The Walker Bay Odyssey 310 AFH I wrote about above had damage to the seat brackets, missing oar pins and a missing MSO. Local Walker Bay dealer said only Walker Bay could respond since it was purchased through Amazon not an authorized dealer. The local dealer contacted Walker Bay on my behalf and told me they would get in touch directly with me. Never heard from them.

I called Amazon customer service and they sent me a new one and I returned the first one in the box in which the second one came.

This one is complete with no damage. But still no MSO which is needed to register the dinghy in California. Amazon credited back $50.00 to cover what Walker Bay will charge for processing the new paperwork. Now, I just need Walker Bay to respond to my email or voicemail.

But I like the boat. Put it in the water for the first time today. Rows nicely. Feels sturdy. Tracks reasonably well for an air floor dinghy. Haven't tried the motor yet.

What's the process of getting duplicate MSO?

Don't know yet. The owners manual says if you lose yours Walker Bay can provide a replacement for which there will be a handling fee. I have email and voicemail inquiries into them as of Friday. I'll let you know how it goes.

Um..is this for real?

Final update. I'm happy to report that Walker Bay sent me by email and hard copy a replacement MSO. There was a $45.00 handling fee which Amazon.com refunded. Gotta love Amazon. So far I'm happy with Walker Bay too. Now I just have to deal with California DMV to register it.

Dare, you asked about process. Contact Walker Bay customer service, info@walkerbay.com Jesus Rodriguez will ask for a bill of sale (I used the Amazon purchase confirmation and a photo of the HIN). I emailed these to him and after a couple of emails back and forth to confirm the information I gave him a cc number and that was all.

By the way, my last few dinghies were PVC and this one is a hypalon type. On the PVC getting registration numbers to stick was impossible so I used a Sharpie to draw them on and redid them every few months. Any advice on adhering registration numbers/stickers to hypalon?

Re: Um..is this for real?

You're lucky, they asked me for notarized legal document (whatever they meant by that, cuz they didn't accept amazon invoice and picture of the hull number and $45) in order to issue duplicate MSO.....Did they ever call you back? I left like 3 voice mails and no response from them

Did Walker bay customer service ever asked you to provide notarized legal document as proof of ownership?

Um..is this for real?

I cleaned off an area of the Hypalon with I believe acetone and a scotch brite green pad and used inexpensive flat black spray paint to spray paint the registration letters on, it's been a couple of years and it has worked fine no fading or flaking off.
