Just make sure you’re using the Roth, instead of the 401k, so if you withdraw early you won’t get hit as hard. Also, if you have a
record of all contributions made during the deployment they won’t be able to tax them, only the gains made off that amount.
I hope that in the future the
government will change the “retirement” standards enforced on civilians to uphold the 20+ year
retirement plan described for
service members and allow withdrawing without penalties.
