Tidal stream data

I sail on the West coast of Scotland and my tidal stream atlas is a vital tool for passage planning.
I plan to set off bluewater cruising next year, and I expect to use OpenCPN with worldwide free charting as my go-to navigation aid; if necessary and possible I will supplement this with more detailed or updated local charting as I go.

However I was wondering if there was a practical (and reasonably low cost) way of securing global tidal stream data, detailed enough for use in passage planning?
