Please don't pay too much attention to "NAY SAYERS". Good baking and food on board is great for aromor interest and "Espri - de Corps" (good spirit) on any voyage or passage. Please enjoy all boat cooking as a truly worthwhile effort. Best wishes in sailing. AlastairA in Oz'Tralia.

Pressure cookers here in Spain are not expensive.

I am going to practice making Irish soda bread in a skillet here at home. It looks like a good bet on board.

Soda bread needs to be encased in a hot oven. SO you will need a dutch oven that is very hot.
weavis.. Irish and Irish soda bread maker.

Re: The Trauma When a Foodie Goes Liveaboard
No problem... I had to give up a few pots that were HUGE, but I don't cook for larger groups any more. Everything I need for food prep fits on the boat including all of my All Clad pots and pans.
You'll adjust.

When I "bake" on the stovetop, I turn the flame down super low, & the whole time things are baking there's a lid on the pot. And the trick is to only have the burner on for long enough to fully heat up the pot & it's contents. Then turning it off for a bit & allowing the heat in the metal to do the baking. So it's a bit of a guessing game the first couple of times, & I certainly peek at the contents regularly to see how things are progressing. Along with cooking by smell, in that a discerning nose can discern pretty easily how far along something being baked is.

A stove-top version is among several methods discussed in detail here:
Lots of info there.
The url doesn't show up on my screen. If that is the case with you as well, copy and paste:

Re: The Trauma When a Foodie Goes Liveaboard
Here is my recipe, my video for making Soda bread. Just put the camera on as I was making a few different types of bread that day. If you can find a way to bake within a hot dutch oven on the stove top the results are the same..

Dont know about soda bread, but many other flat breads are easy to make stove top in a skillet.
