sounds fine to me

as long as you have a plan to get there and some sailing experience base all else are "details" and can be just as well learned "on the way" as doing day sails

It appears that you have never been sailing before. It is fine to learn but did you start reading by picking up a book and reading it or did someone teach you first the fundamentals and you carried on from there?


Go take the ASA 101 course. It will give you the basics that you can play with. And it will a bit determine if you two really want to sail Later as the reality gets closer take a couple of more ASA classes on liveaboard and Navigation. Someplace along the line someone is going to ask for your credentials and the ASA has always worked for us.


But as someone said above we have met and know more than a couple of folks who sold everything and headed out only to find it was not to their liking and quit, sold the boat at a huge loss and moved back on land. This is not for everyone but for those who it is for it is simply wonderful.
