Yes of course books. Lots of books. I have a mix of real books on paper and books on devices.

And for those that do download books and haven't found it already, Free eBooks | Project Gutenberg. Thousands of books for free. Most of the old classics like Mark Twain, Dickens, Doyle and on and on. Plus thousands of odd things that reveal an occasional gem.

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: That little something that makes life easier

A cellular high gain antenna with WIFI hotspot. Internet access is a requirement these days. If you are a cruiser, you quickly find that cellular is the most reliable way to get it. Unfortunately, the company that made the one that I have (Wirie) went out of business. Mine still works so I am making do for now.

Table in cockpit with drink holders. It's always a busy place!

Anchor and chain washdown system.

Slow cooker (very miserly power consumption) that allows you to completely prepare a meal in the morning and enjoy sundowners with company, instead of being a galley slave during part of their visit.

Stellarium on a Kindle to identify all the stars and constellations above, while at anchor.

Headlamps for everyone aboard, so that hands are kept free to hold on and to work.

Rechargeable lithium batteries for every portable device aboard.

Ice. Had to be able to make ice.

We had the entire cockpit enclosed. Now it's very comfortable sailing in cold weather. The windward side can be down and the leeward side up. Also on warm buggy nights it keeps the critters out.

I'm looking for a comfortable canvas backed chair.

Wow, if these are your “little somethings” I’d be keen to see your big projects!

The dough mixer really is worth a look.

"The $15 ceramic knife that deals oh so much better with modern synthetic ropes than any metal blade."

I went online for a folding ceramic knife and the best price I found was around $75.

Solar panels and big battery bank with inverter to power refrigeration and internet.

Ceramic knives in the galley....Walmart and Amazon for better pricing.

Walmart has a small crock pot under $15 perfect for stews and chili for 2.

Shades for all your windows...Phifertex 90% at Sailrite.

Airfryer

Where I live, it is virtually impossible for a private individual to get argon gas in any size and especially in bottles small enough to carry on my boat (unless you use those little canisters that cost a fortune and last 10 minutes). So while I have a plan for TIG at home (decant gas from a friend), I would never consider it practical on my boat.
