Question Surveyor in Cyprus (or maybe Turkey)

Does anyone have any personal recommendations for a GOOD marine surveyor experienced and understanding of sailing cats. Preferably based in Cyprus or if not I might have to consider Turkey based.

Thanks Steve I will locate his contact details.
In what way did you find him helpful? Any idea of reasonable expected cost from any surveyor for a 43' sailing cat?
Regards
Wayne

Re: Surveyor in Cyprus (or maybe Turkey)

Hi,

We were present when Fergus surveyed a 40' Bowman that we bought in Turkey. I've had several boats surveyed but I was really impressed with Fergus who actually investigated the boat rather than just tick a box on a form. He used thermal imaging as well as moisture meters to check the hull (which had a few small osmotic blisters). He emptied all the crap out and really looked at all the fittings etc etc. He has a technique (4 wire resistance technique) for checking the rig. I was suitably impressed.

Cost was about 700 Euro plus about 70 for the rig inspection. Double the price of the other surveyor in Gocek. Worth every penny.

His email is Fergus Prescott <fergusprescott@superonline.com>

Regards,

Steve

Hi Steve
Thanks for the update. He sounds like the right sort of surveyor so I will contact him and see what it will cost to have him do the survey in Karpaz Gate TRNC. Hopefully he will travel at a reasonable price. As you say his survey charge is expensive comparatively but if he delivers the matching service I will consider him.
This is valuable info especially when I am so far away at the present so I thank you.
Kind regards
Wayne

Re: Surveyor in Cyprus (or maybe Turkey)

Hi again Is anybody able to assist with any recommendations for a GOOD surveyor preferably on Cyprus???
I am starting to wonder if there are any surveyors at all on Cyprus but surely that could not be right...could it??
I have found one in Turkey and one in Greece but they are expensive when you add in the flight, transfer and accommodation costs so hoping to find one already in Cyprus???
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks

Kind regards
Wayne
