Surf, kitesurf and sup all on a small boat?!

Hey guys,

Has anyone the same problem? The two of us have a 34 footer and way to much surf equipment. During the time when friends are visiting this will get way to packed.
Dose anyone Hase some tricks?
Maybe pulling the surfboard up the mast during anchoring but this sound to risky with the wind... I have seen boats putting them oder the railing.
What’s your trick?

Use a single board for surf and sup, and wind surfing. Not ideal but will work.

I suppose the sup board will be more like those foam coated surfboards they give to beginners, but will work. I saw a Sup guy, tearing it up out in Chile. Seemed to be having a ball of a time.

Re: Surf, kitesurf and sup all on a small boat?!

The only solutions I've found are 1-inflatables and 2- racks that mount outside of the stanchions. Kind of a PITA to try to sail with boards out there though - always interfere with one line or another. I've noticed a couple of other smallish boats put boards up on a rack in a solar arch, but later seem to have quietly moved them to the stanchions. I suppose they made a big unwanted mizzen sail.

In the green-with-envy department, these guys seem to have it all figured out: Forward part of one whole hull is a hold that neatly stores surfboards, dive gear, and mountain bikes in dedicated racks: Sail Surf ROAM

How about inflatable SUPs & the for the surfboards-make a loft loop arrangement, remove the fins & hang them from the salon ceiling? And... perhaps leave the kite gear behind?

We use the Magma Kayak racks outside the lifelines. On crossings can bring everything inboard. Magma now makes a 20" wide version. We fit a full 12' kayak and paddleboard on each side with plenty of room for a third board.

I have them all tied together outside the stanchions with a canvas wrap around them. They each have their own line loops to make it easier to pull one out.
I have a 49' DS so they live in one aft cabin on passages.

What is a canvas wrap? Are you not scared that someone steals them when they are in the outside of the boat?

Re: Surf, kitesurf and sup all on a small boat?!

I bought the Magma supports which hold my two 12.6 SUPS but on the inside of the life lines so no problems with waves , docks, jib sheets, etc. They are expensive but are good stainless which look like new after two+ years.
Measure your side deck area to see if the SUPS will fit length wise.

They make 'surfboard locks' (Google it) that go into the finbox of a surfboard and then out to a cable to be locked onto something else.

Re: Surf, kitesurf and sup all on a small boat?!

The canvas wrap just ties around all the boards from the lower lifeline, over the top and back up under the boards. Just keeps the sun off them and makes them look a little less cluttered.
How do you launch kites off the boat?
