Sticky stuff for aluminium passerelle

We have just discovered that our aluminium passerelle combined with rain and a steep incline is an accident waiting to happen or maybe a viral Youtube video.

Can any forumites recommend an inexpensive, easy to apply solution that will render our passerelle sticky and sure underfoot?

3M antiskid tape , cheap, fast and safe. You'll find it in most hardware stores

Great, thanks Mariano.

We were just concerned that any kind of tape would have a problem adhering to the corrugated effect that is the current surface of the passerelle.

Paint with Wing Walk.

It's like a very heavy duty non skid.

Re: Sticky stuff for aluminium passerelle

How about riveting some aluminum strips, side to side? This should add some traction and it should last.

WotName, that wingwalk paint looks ideal, might be a problem shipping it to Turkey from the US.

I'll get my translation book out and see if there's anything similar to by over here. Thanks.

Boom 23, an interesting thought.

I wonder if those aluminium strips that you can get from hardware stores that you put at the bottom of doorways where one room is carpeted and the other is lino would work.

Re: Sticky stuff for aluminium passerelle

The 3M tape has a great adhesive, but it doesn't conform to shapes well. Regardless, I think you'd still get a year or two with it applied to the textured surface of your ramp. Get black tape.... it will show dirt logged under it otherwise.

Anything somewhat flat which adds some friction should work.
Another idea is to drill 1 inch holes at regular intervals. Your shoe sole will have more edges to grab on. Just be careful to not weaken the aluminum too much.

Get a 1 quart can of KiwiGrip and use it to paint some stripes of non-skid on

Re: Sticky stuff for aluminium passerelle

I've used rubberized body undercoating for similar tasks on land. May not last long in a marine environment though.

Or you could screw down some indoor/outdoor carpet.

Pete17C, the outdoor/marine carpet idea is a good one. Thanks.

PCMM, yes Kiwigrip might work, I'll do some research to see if it will go directly onto aluminium. Thanks.

Re: Sticky stuff for aluminium passerelle

Screwing down some wood strips across the walkway is an alternate to aluminum
