Soon to be liveaboard

No question. Just wanted to say hi and thank you for this forum. I've been lurking for a while and will be starting my liveaboard adventure in a couple of months.

Your discussions, friendly answers to questions and general attitude have been great reading and very helpful.

Re: Soon to be liveaboard

Hey, I didn't want to impose. But since you asked....

I've been living and working in Sausalito - one of the most magical places on earth (If you know how to avoid over-entitled Marin residents and bumbling tourists).

Have been on houseboats for the past 4 years. Am buying a boat to liveaboard.

Hope to have a happy (and affordable) home and learn what I need to learn to take it out of it's snug little berth.

Yes, I know that a floating home in Sausalito is not a boat, but it did spoil me and make the idea of living on land again not a happy option.

Dream? To have not made a monumental mistake and be able to make my boat ship-shape and take it wherever I want to go - Seattle to Chile or more.

All the best when you set sail. Lurking can be alluring, but sharing is much more fun.I agree with you when you say the friendly atmosphere and generosity with sharing information here is very worthwhile. I like to read the posts even if it's just to spend time to sift the sand from the seaweed. ( while I ponder and faff about weighing pros and cons) . Most of all I like to hear about those who have actually made the decision to set sail and then followed through.

Is the boat you're buying the Chris Craft?

Great to hear you share our passion. Welcome to the cruising community. I'm fairly new my self but I read it for years before my first post. If you share your thoughts on buying which boat or what ever problem you have, I guarantee you will get a lot of opinions.

Re: Soon to be liveaboard

Just signed! Smartly decided to do a rent-to-own agreement. So I have two years to see if this is the right boat. (Hoping it is, of course). If not, I'm pretty sure I'm never living on land again. Boat life feels right.
