Skype number not sending VM notification to email

Hi Guys

Not sure this is the correct location for this question....

We have not had a US phone for 13 years. So about 13 years ago we signed up for a Skype number that people could call and leave a voice message. Skype would then send us a email notification we had a skype voice mail.

It appears that this was discontinued some time ago and we just realized it when we found a VM message on Skype that was 9 months old.

After spending a few hours on the web trying to figure out more about this I am turning to you.

Does anyone use a Skype number to receive voice mails and how are you notified that you have one?

Though I always had and still have a cell phone number, for years I had used a Skype number for the free minutes until this happened. Skype never announced it. I just finally noticed I wasn't getting notified if messages. I changed to a Google number. It will send you the VMs by email.
