Question Size of your TV?

If possible, also let us know your viewing distance.

I'm interested in getting a TV for movie times, just not sure on the appropriate size! I can basically fit any size in my cat, but still, you CAN go too big i think...

Re: Size of your TV?

19" - I'm not a big fan of TV and I pretty much only use it for watching movies etc. when there are more people then just me onboard (read: when my son is visiting).

I usually watch on my laptop when it's just me (which is most of the time).

Viewing distance: it's a 29' boat Can't go much further then 3 meters or so, if you don't mind sitting on the steps

I couldn't vote because there was no choice for 0" or "none".

Re: Size of your TV?

Size I believe is based largely on room you have to mount it, and distance from the TV, there are sites that will give you figures, but I beleive the bigger, the better. (in my opinion)
Many view having a TV as some kind of sin, I have two. We watch so much TV as part of our life on land that I want to have it as a transition, sort of wean us off gradually as opposed to quitting cold turkey.

Re: Size of your TV?

Mine is 32", mounted on the forward bulkhead of the salon, viewing distance about 3 meters I guess.

It's fine, but I would go a size bigger if I had space for it. I agree with A64 that to a point, bigger is better.

Mine can't be used for watching TV (as I broke off the cable input), but we love to watch movies occasionally, especially in the winter time with the long dark nights up here.

I bought the largest 12-volt TV I could find which is 32 inches. Viewing distance about 10 feet

That is what I did, exactly. Bought it from Circuit City, has a built in DVD player, powered by 12VDC brick

Re: Size of your TV?

You more than likely got a better value than I. I bought a Jensen marine TV, the 32 inch was well over $650. What brand did you buy?

Re: Size of your TV?

I use a 10" screen laptop if I want to watch something, but I tend not to nowadays as it's kind of a pain downloading stuff
