Is a half-finished 50' catamaran project a proper chick-magnet by itself, or does it take a fully finished catamaran to lure a female sailing mate for a single man??

The half-finished 50' catamaran project would be more attractive to the Builder personality type woman and the fully finished catamaran would be more attractive to the Explorer personality type woman, but hopefully, the woman would be attracted to the man over the boat.

I see mostly comments from Men. Thought it would be nice to change it up. I am a young lady of 54 years and in my experience the question is not simply how nice of a boat you have. I find the nicer the boat is balanced by less nice owner. The questions are as follows: Is your boat prepared for the journey or will I be sitting in the ship yard? What is the safety and navigation equipment on board? Why have you been sailing single? Are you nice and ready to share a life of cruising? Of course the answer to that question is Yes! Sometimes the answers are not all honest on both parts. Best to sail local and get to know each other. The time to find out about someone is not when you are on the rocks.

I have not been on the forun in a number of years but as I am docked taking on supplies and waiting to see that Hurricane Beryl is going to do I thought I would chime in on this subject.


As a single gentleman of 64 who has been living and crusing aboard for the past 12 years, from my personal experience the Ladies come and the Ladies go. Typically they stay anywhere between 4 and 8 months before they realize that this is my lifestyle and that I am not going to change for them. I am not going to sell my boat and marry them, I am not going to settle down to the little cottage with the white picket fence.



When a Lady comes to understand that I will not change for her she leaves and for 4 to 5 months I am alone again, which is just fine with me, then another Lady comes along and the process strats all over again. The average age of the women is 38 to 45, all are divorced with grown children, some are well off and others are looking for a sugardaddy to sink their claws into.



None have expressed a desire to stay aboard and live the simple life. While I have traveled the world I have settled on spending my time here in the Caribbean traveling up and down the the islands, staying until I feel the itch to move on.



To the original gentleman who was looking for a yound hottie, while they are out there my experience is that they are fickle and looking for someone to sink their claws into then divorce them and try to get as much of his wealth as possible.


Sir, sell the klunker and by something ready to go, then go and never look back.

The claws bit is over the top IMO.

There is nothing wrong with an attractive lady seeking to trade her pleasant company and time in exchange for financial security.

As long as there is no coercion or deception involved from either party, cards are laid on the table and a deal struck considered fair by all concerned.

May be short-term, may be UDDUP, it is up to each of us to be honest and fair.

I know plenty of older guys who rely on dangling their golden carrot to trick poorer women into sticking around, without ever making their "no strings attached, no eventual jackpot" conditions explicit.

Sometimes cheating the girls out of their best years and leaving them on their own once they realize they've been scammed. Sometimes even with a baby and little means to support it, dad deadbeats off over the horizon.

Not saying that's you, but the "claws" of the males of the species can be just as sharp.
