Wifey B: I'd agree with shared passions. I think you must share values and basic beliefs. These are at the very roots of your relationship. We've formed an extended family now and we share these things with them. We love them all deeply.

We read each other's minds, know their thoughts. There have been many times in our lives we've found ourselves in situations and we took action together without a single word being said to initiate it. We just knew what we had to do and what the other was going to do. We don't have to ask each other because we already know the answer.

Lovely post BandB and its wonderful to feel that passion and deep love for your partner.

To me passion translates to a sometimes dangerous double edge sword, where perspective can be overshadowed by commitment and loss or reversals can become totally debilitating.

Maybe its an age thing where perspective becomes more important as you get older.

I do know though, that my partner inspires me to be a nicer, more patient person, in areas important to her. She has actually tempered my passions with sensitivity.

Hey Chichi! Still on plan for your great escape?

I'm just killing time in la paz, got a welder coming over to make a boarding ladder. Getting too lazy to climb up the bobstay or throw my kayak in the water every time I want to dive off the boat. I'll leave this (amazingly long) thread alone after that......

Wifey B: I don't think that means you have any less passion. You just utilize it differently. Passion doesn't have to be big or loud or outrageous. It can be gentle, sensitive, and subtle. Sometimes it's just caring deeply.

Today's the day for the Woman's March all around the US, and one of the many messages I'm hearing is that our lack of sensitivity towards women is probably all just a function of our male privilege.

I think privilege is the wrong word. It's power. It's then abuse of power. Those who abuse their power by sexually harassing the opposite sex are generally very abusive to the same sex as well, just not sexually. How often you hear, "well, I knew he was an a...hole, I just didn't know he was doing that." They typically abuse their power in very many ways.

Now, as to the things in the chart you showed. I'd say those are tied to power as well and an inability to handle it properly.

Traditionally more men have been in positions of power than women. However, women who find themselves in positions of power sometimes abuse it too.
