In Antigua a bagpiper played from the old fort in English harbour on the headland near the anchorage (not Shirley heights) at sunset.

It really was beautiful... untill a cruiser shot him.

It sounds as though you have already made up your mind. Living and cruising on a boat can be an awesome way of life if you are in love with the lifestyle, but people change and what was heaven for you ten years ago may not be so now. It will not get better once your project boat is finished and to miss your 'window' for finding love and happiness might leave you resentful of the sacrifices you make for the dreams of yesteryear.
I am assuming you are only joking about living in a shipping container, but maybe selling the boat and doing a bit of world travel - Asia, Europe, inland areas or driving the West coast in a Mustang ... whatever floats your boat (oops ... too soon?).
Look at your priorities, find your partner (having neither looks nor money myself, I would be cashing THAT cheque if I were you) and if she is boaty, then find something to sail together.
Just don't forget that pre-nup.

How about a motorhome ? It's like a boat on wheel; you can ride up north to Nunavut as the planet gets hotter, while the Republicans keep saying that it doesn't & that it's just another Chinese plot to destroy our oil-based brilliant civilisation (Used to be a commy plot, but the only left are in the Chinese politburo & event there I'm not sure Pretty soon you'll be sunbathing in Kuglukluk in February

Having gone through a divorce recently myself, I understand how emotions can cloud reason and common sense. But I have a great solution.
Buy a boat in better condition! The OP says he makes 200k a year, so it should be no problem to find a boat that needs only minimal work, besides it won't be a boat that was shared with the ex.

I recall a joke re Brits and Scots during their many wars.

The armies are drawn up on the sides of a valley full of mist waiting for it to clear so they can have at it.

A voice comes out of the mist "One Scotsman can whip two Brits", two Brits dash into the mist, much clashing and clanging.

The voice comes again "One Scotsman can whip four Brits", four dash down, same result.

The voice comes again "One Scotsman can whip eight Brits". Same again but this time a bloodied Brit crawls out of the mist and with his dying breath says "Don't go, there's two of the bastards".
