And in many places is just as illegal as a handgun.
However I agree, if legal it surely is effective, just try to not be downwind.

There is this story I was told at Glacier National Park about a Japanese tourist who had a can of bear spray, and lined her children up and applied it, thinking I guess that it was like mosquito spray.

Be terrible if true.

If memory serves, Bear Spray may be legal in Canada, but mace is not.
I believe the difference is mace is an ounce or two, while Bear spray is much, much more, but both are Capsicum pepper spray?

Yes bear spray make a little can of mace look, well little.......bear spray is capsicum has large volume and long reach.......like you don't want to hit the bear as it is on top of you.....

Re: Self Defense aboard

There are many improvised weapons that are just, if not more effective as firearms in confined spaces.

I have a textbook that covered some of that from my cop days. I'll see if I can dig that out of the library in the next couple days.

Guys

It is time to close this thread. The second you went to discussing weaponry for combat, be it self defence or otherwise, it became a topic not conducive to the policies of CF.

But then you know that.
