Re: Security - What do You Do ?

A client of mine has a motion detector camera that calls his cellphone and displays on his phone the camera feed.

Only thing I can come up with is dead men tell no lies, also keep the sharks well fed.

Well said Lagoon4us
I agree a few systems to deter have got to help and that DIY system has got to be a lot easier and cheaper to install and maintain than having a dog.
PS I actually like dogs but I wouldn't have one on my boat again, the last one I had aboard (A Collie Lab cross) was only aboard 1 day and I was still finding dog hairs 3 months later.

Re: Security - What do You Do ?

In ww2 they had flair guns (50mm) that locked into a spring loaded mount on the skin of an aircraft. Single shot it pushed off a weather cover when fired. I kind of like the idea of being able to fire it from inside. Might be able to fab a "gun port" from PVC. If you had a bunch you could unload a full broad side on offenders.

How about my blood-thirsty attack poodle? He takes his turn at the wheel and doesn't shed.

Re: Security - What do You Do ?

If you carry a firearm, it is a good idea to have one that you keep on the boat and one that you turn in at customs. Turning in an old run-of-the-mill handgun to a customs agent means that you have in on board while making passages. Keep your real firearm nicely hidden.

Noise and lights aren't for the robber, they're for everyone else. People doing things they don't want others to know about certainly wont embrace attention with open arms, and usually will try to get away from it as fast as possible.
