Seattle Marina?

Anyone with experience at Seattle Marina (2401 N Northlake Way)?

I'm not finding many reviews online, but am particularly interested in the liveaboard's perspective of the marina.
Nice amenities? Kid-friendly? Walkable to grocery, library, etc? Reliable wifi? Cell service?

Any input here is appreciated; thanks!

Re: Seattle Marina?

I think that is the one by the boat launch, close to Freemont. We use to moor at the South end of Lake Union but knew boaters that living on that marina, but that was 5+ years ago. At that time it was not a marina that we would have chosen. I don’t remember it being kid friendly as it was rough area, or good amenities. The plus was close to Gas Work Park and Freemont. Freemont has grocery/drug stores, restaurants, library and in the summer every Sunday a large Flee Market.

Best go to the marina in the evening as business/manager has gone home and most of the live a boards are home and had time to un wind. Its after hours that things can get interesting, when your basically on your own.

Re: Seattle Marina?

No, this is not a great live aboard location. Close to a shipyard, proximity to Gasworks means lots of homeless/alcoholics, not very good facilities, not very clean. Fremont is near, and does have many attractions (the Sunday market is year round, I never miss it). What are you looking for? Covered/uncovered? Fresh/salt? Size? I know most of the marinas in Seattle, twenty years live aboard here...
