Sailboat Vin Question

Hey all, Is it worthwhile to do a Vin search of a boat you are looking at? Do any of you have any sources that are better than others? It looks like all of the companies offering a report on your vin are charging something. Thanks

Are you referring to the HIN (Hull Identification Number)? As I recall, you can obtain vessel information by entering this number in the USCG site "Office of Science and Technology" or you may enter the vessel documentation number or even the vessel name.

Thank you Ranger42c, those links were a help. Are there any sources out there that describe any accident damage in any detail or is that private insurance company information?

I thought you meant "vin" as is vin ordinaire versus Gran Cru Classe.


Personally I just drank Chateau Neuf Du Plunk when alone; but kept at least one bottle of decent French vin in case I was invited for dinner onto some yacht-better-than-mine.
