Project Boat

Picked up a 1969 Columbia 26 a little while ago. I hoped my youngest might live aboard for a while and restore her in his spare time.

It took us a few days to get it ready to sail but we took it out yesterday and she is a sweet sailing little boat.

Looking for another pretty place to work on the boat.

Re: Project Boat

'sounds great! My daughter & Son-in-Law picked up an old Columbia 26 about ten years ago and renovated it before selling it down in the Keys. They left it with a beautiful dark blue roll & tipped topsides. Too small for a family though, so their living on a Gulfstar trawler now.

Re: Project Boat

I expect it will suit him as a bachelor boat for a little while.

The boys knocked off the barnacles but the bottom still looks like a golf course. Hull and deck are sound.

I think one of the previous owners might been a ham operator. The backstay has telephone pole insulators. 👍

I would guess that his back stay was used as a single-side band antennae.

Re: Project Boat

Although I bought it with a project for him in mind, I find myself making plans to repair, sand, paint and varnish.

I may be an addict.
