OK couple of things amuse/annoy me
1, Standing up in your dinghy cos you think it looks cool.
2. Using your mast head tri colour as an anchor light

Re: Pet hates that people do
No bow watch with genoa (ducking around is fine, as long as it is frequent enough).

Re: Pet hates that people do
Standing up in your dinghy, to keep your bum dry (or to see further), doesn't really bother me much.
Making unwarranted assumptions, about other people's motivations, bothers me a little more.
Peevish people cause me some bother.
Being hoist with my own petard, peeves me.

Or because pounding several nm in 15+ knots of weather does my spine in but my bent knees handle it fine.

Re: Pet hates that people do
We do think standing in the dinghy looks funny, but mostly when it's in a small, quiet, calm anchorage and there really is no reason to stand. We call it the 'Washingtonian Crossing', or a 'storming the beaches of Margaritaville'.

Re: Pet hates that people do
If not #1, this is close:
Those with the smaller powerboats, up to about 25', who cruise along at 25 - 30 knots (no problem) then when getting near anchored or docked boats, pull back on the throttle until the bow is pointing at the clouds. This causes the wake to have a large increase in size with a shortening of the frequency. They would cause less problems if they simply maintained the cruise speed. The concept that with a planing hull, the higher the bow, the higher the wake, is lost on them.
Another would be those posting "No Wake" signs then screaming at the boats leaving a wake. Can someone please explain how any object can go through the water without creating a wake? A canoe being paddled leaves a wake, swimming dog leaves a wake, and a 50' sailboat motoring by at idle leaves a wake. A sign stating "Do not disturb the water" is about as logical as a no wake sign.

I don’t so much mind when a 25 foot center console is doing it. I care a little bit more when a 70 foot sport fisher is doing that. Very common.

"No Wake" is defined by the authority having jurisdiction, but generally a “no-wake zone” is an area where vessels are expected to travel at slow [idle] speeds [the slowest-possible vessel speed to maintain steerage], to minimize the wake, sometimes also limiting maximum speed [often to 5 MPH]. Some boats may require throttling in and out of gear to achieve a NO WAKE 5 MPH speed.
According to the USCG ➥ http://wow.uscgaux.info/Uploads_wowI...ow_No_Wake.pdf
